Ernest Sullivan

	Ernest (Ernie) Sullivan, 85, of Benton, died at 2:14 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2004 at the Heartland Regional Medical Center, Marion.
	Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 2, 2004, at the New Life Church of God, Benton with Pastor Rod Joplin officiating.  Burial with military rites was in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, East of Thompsonville.  Visitation was from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home and from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the New Life Church of 
	Mr. Sullivan was born Aug. 8, 1919 in Hamilton County, IL, the son of James Thomas and Ida (Laws) Sullivan.  He married the former Hazel Roberta Pemberton in November 1940 and she preceded him in death.
	He was a retired Livestock Inspector with the Illinois Department of Agriculture, former owner of Sullivan's Gun Shop in Benton and had worked for the State of Illinois Highway Department.  He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran and a member of the American Legion Post#1194, Thompsonville.  He was a member of the New Life Church of God, Benton for over 50 years, was active in the Franklin County Republican Party for many years, and was a hunter who loved to hunt deer and rabbit.
	He is survived by six children, James E. Sullivan and wife Jean, Thompsonville, Joyce Ann Atchison and husband Bert, Benton, Ernest D. Sullivan and wife Dawn, Benton, Roberta Lynn Hutchison and husband Ray, Benton, Sharon Sue Ruff and husband Kenny, Du Quoin, Sandra Renea Hungate, Benton, twenty- two grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Gladys Harrelson, Carmi, a sister-in-law, Esta Sullivan, Benton, and several nieces and nephews.
	Mr. Sullivan was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers, Hiram, Hubert, Clifford, Earl, and Robert Sullivan, and a sister, Lorene Bruce, and two great-great-grandchildren, Gage Michael Frost and Cameron James Looker.
